The Education Pathway to Economic Well-Being
Education is traditionally linked to individual success in life, particularly an individual’s chances for achieving wealth and prosperity. Higher education results in more skill and knowledge to secure higher income. Recent shifts in labor markets—to include greater participation from more countries, producing more international competition—have also supported that view. As advanced economies encountered new competition from regions like South America, Eastern Europe, and Asia—it emerged clearly that the most successful were more educated, workers educated up to and in some cases, well beyond Western standards.
